Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alonzo Garcelon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Morris! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garcelon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Morris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Garcelon swivels though and keeps the full guard. Morris stands and throws Garcelon's legs to the side, diving into side control. Garcelon is looking for a sweep. Morris slows the pace down. Garcelon tries to escape but Morris is in control. Garcelon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Morris on the ground. Garcelon stops Morris from passing to mount. Morris is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Garcelon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Garcelon is breathing heavily. Morris looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Garcelon is trying to control Morris's posture but Morris avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morris trying to control the position but Garcelon is working away. Morris stands up and beckons Garcelon to his feet. Garcelon doesn't succeed with the takedown and Morris counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Garcelon is lucky that one didn't land flush. Garcelon is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Morris gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Morris with a knee to the head.

Morris gets a takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Garcelon tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Morris has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Morris controlling from the full mount. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Garcelon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Morris prevents Garcelon from getting the reversal. BOOM! Morris connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Morris stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Garcelon tries for a takedown but Morris circles away easily and Morris counters with a single leg into guard. Garcelon didn't expect that. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alonzo Garcelon. That's going to take a lot out of him. Garcelon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Morris is pushing down on Garcelon's leg trying to pass to half guard. Garcelon is fighting to maintain full guard but Morris has managed to sneak the leg through. Morris is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Morris prevents Garcelon from improving his position. Well, if Morris is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Morris lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Garcelon wants to improve his position but Morris is controlling well.
Garcelon tries to kick Morris off but Morris keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nick Morris dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Morris moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Garcelon is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Morris. Morris moves into range and connects with a jab. Morris fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Garcelon sprawls well initially but Morris persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Morris working over Garcelon with some ground and pound. Garcelon looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Morris is looking for a kimura but Garcelon is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Morris to get the leverage. Garcelon pushes Morris off looking to stand but Morris dives back in and keeps control.
Still in half guard, Morris seems content to control. Morris lands with a punch from half guard. Morris wants to lay and pray for a moment but Garcelon keeps working. Morris is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Garcelon tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garcelon trying to hold on to Morris's head to control him but Morris postures up.
Morris slows the pace down in half guard. Let's hope that Morris has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Garcelon punching from the bottom.

Morris moves nicely into side control. Morris is looking to take a break and control but Garcelon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Morris working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The referee asks Morris politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Morris prefers to stall for the moment though. Nick Morris has got the better of the ground game so far. Garcelon is looking to regain half guard here but Morris keeps moving and retains side control. Garcelon taking punishment in the form of punches.
