The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chelios lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
It looks like Tarik Gibson has been cut.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Chelios - that will leave a mark!
Chelios closes the distance and clinches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chelios tries to land knees in the clinch but Gibson avoids the damage to the body.

Gibson connects with a body shot that sends Chelios's belly button to the back.

Gibson loads up on a big right hand but Chelios slips the punch.

Chelios closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Gibson thuds his right hand into Chelios's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Chelios uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gibson.
Gibson throws a hook but Chelios avoids it easily.

Gibson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Gibson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Chelios.
Chelios throws a head kick but Gibson moves out of range.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gibson fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Chelios moves away from the strike by Gibson.
Gibson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Chelios's head backwards.
Chelios has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Gibson finds it's way round the side to connect with Chelios's head.
Gibson scores with a head kick. Chelios tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Chelios tries to land a leg kick but Gibson saw it coming and moves away.
Gibson misses with an uppercut
and Chelios counters with a crisp one two that drops Gibson! Chelios thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Gibson to his feet! Gibson is in big trouble!
Gibson is rocked!
Chelios uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gibson.
Gibson is still on wobbly legs! Can Chelios finish him?
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Chelios throws a right and a left that both miss.
Gibson is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Chelios had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Gibson connects with a good right hand that stumbles Chelios. Chelios circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Gibson seems to have recovered his senses.
Chelios rushes Gibson and presses him up against the cage.
Gibson pushes Chelios back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Chev Chelios will probably get the nod.

Gibson lands a glancing blow to the side of Chelios's head.
Chelios tries to work over Gibson's front leg with a kick but Gibson checks it.

Gibson wants to stay close but Chelios steps back to make room for something. Gibson seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Chelios and Gibson drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!
