PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Voss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Sloop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Voss might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Here comes the boom!. Josh Sloop will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Voss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Josh Sloop!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloop bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Voss's head backwards.


It looks like Scott Voss has been cut.

Voss gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Voss is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Sloop to keep the fight standing.
Sloop wants a takedown.

Voss escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sloop tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Voss paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Sloop gets tackled into the cage by Voss. Voss maintains the clinch.

Voss jumps into guard, dragging Sloop to the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Voss wants to stand and escape but Sloop is having none of it.
Voss wants to sweep but no luck.
Voss could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Voss is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sloop is aware though and is defending well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Voss wants to stand and escape but Sloop is having none of it.
Voss is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Voss escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sloop gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sloop trying to stand up but can't free himself from Voss's guard.

Voss is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sloop avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sloop won't allow Voss to get back to his feet.
Sloop wants to stand but Voss has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Voss is looking for a triangle but Sloop pushes his legs off easily.
Voss is looking to stand up but Sloop isn't so interested in that idea.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Voss has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sloop can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Voss is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sloop is aware though and is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sloop trying to stand up but can't free himself from Voss's guard.

Voss throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Sloop escapes and throws Voss's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Voss on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Voss tries to get out of the position.
Voss is pushing Sloop's head away, looking to escape. Sloop manages to hold on to the position though.
Voss is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Sloop off and has taken his back!

Voss is looking for a choke. Sloop gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Sloop manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Voss wants to sweep but no luck.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Voss has his foot on Sloop's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sloop works his way back into a safe position though.

Sloop decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Voss, up you get!
Sloop defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Voss.
Voss is breathing heavily.

Oooooh!!! Sloop has knocked Voss down with a huge combo! Sloop steps away and waves a wobbly Voss back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Voss is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sloop with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Oh Voss is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sloop wants to land a leg kick but Voss is out of range.
Sloop misses with a takedown attempt - Voss sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Voss seems to have got his legs back now.
Sloop connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Voss! He's out on his feet! Sloop rushes in and drops Voss with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Josh Sloop!
