Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kengo Watanabe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jason White! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Franklyn Lucas and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A nice inside leg kick there by White. That's going to slow Watanabe down. Watanabe shoots in for a takedown but White shows good takedown defense. White cracks the inside of Watanabe's front leg. Watanabe has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from White. White lands with a kick to the ribs.
White lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. White lands with a kick to the temple. Watanabe shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" An inside leg kick lands from White. Watanabe is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Watanabe on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

White throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Watanabe. White throws a head kick but Watanabe moves out of range.

Watanabe takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Watanabe changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. White tries to avoid it but Watanabe manages to keep hold of a leg and drag White to the ground. White escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kengo Watanabe. That's going to take a lot out of him. An inside leg kick lands from White. White keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. White works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Nice takedown defense from White. No joy for Watanabe on that attempt. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Watanabe. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ouch! a nice leg kick from White, right into the meat.

Watanabe is breathing heavily. White fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Watanabe has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. White steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Watanabe. Watanabe fails with the takedown. Watanabe on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by White. White obviously looking to wear him down.
Watanabe takes one on the button. Watanabe tries to score a power double leg takedown but White sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Watanabe somewhat. White swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Watanabe. Watanabe shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says White as he avoids it easily. Watanabe gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

White has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Watanabe tries to move into range but White moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. White throws a nice outside leg kick. Watanabe takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Watanabe had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Watanabe takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Watanabe takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. White throws a quick inside leg kick. White keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

White feints and then cracks Watanabe's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Watanabe down.

Watanabe is rocked! White cracks Watanabe with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Watanabe tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but White pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Watanabe is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
