PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Andy Bartsch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dwight Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Evans's choice of entrance music: Destroy And Dominate by Chimaira. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andy Bartsch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dwight Evans!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans stuffs the takedown.
Bartsch shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Evans but Evans pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Evans feints and as Bartsch raises his hands in defense, Evans changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Bartsch has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Evans can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Evans passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bartsch is staying active underneath Evans, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bartsch has hold of Evans's hands but Evans slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Evans gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Bartsch shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Evans counters with a single leg into guard. Bartsch didn't expect that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Bartsch. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Evans trying to control but Bartsch is working from the bottom.
Evans won't allow Bartsch to sweep him here.
Evans throws a big right hand that misses.

Evans throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bartsch works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Evans is in close to Bartsch's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Bartsch looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bartsch is breathing heavily.
Evans trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Evans advances to half guard.
Bartsch wants to get back to his feet.

Evans postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Bartsch to stand up.
Evans lands a jab to Bartsch's midsection.
Bartsch moves out of range as Evans throws a body kick.
Bartsch tries to clinch but Evans moves away
and Evans counters with a nice body shot.

Evans gets a takedown into half guard.

Bartsch looking for submissions off his back.
Bartsch is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Bartsch looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Bartsch manages to get to full guard.

Bartsch looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bartsch wants to sweep but no luck.

Bartsch looking for a guillotine here but Evans defends easily.
Evans wants to control from the top but Bartsch keeps moving.

Evans pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bartsch is keeping the position for now.
Evans stopping the sweep attempt from Bartsch.
Bartsch controls Evans momentarily but Evans frees himself.
Evans trying to control the position from guard on top but Bartsch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bartsch trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Bartsch is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Evans with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bartsch keeping full guard, as Evans tries to pass.
Evans trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Bartsch is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bartsch is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Bartsch prevents Evans from standing back up.
Bartsch is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Evans is hurt! He's hurt bad - Bartsch fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Evans from any more punishment! Congratulations to Bartsch! Great finish!
