Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jacob Preston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rich Silva Jr! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Alyssa Summers and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Silva Jr is defended easily by Preston. Preston gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Silva Jr to score an easy takedown into full guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Silva Jr is stalling in the full guard. Silva Jr cracks Preston with a solid left hand. Preston knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva Jr on the ground. Silva Jr engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Silva Jr trying to control but Preston is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva Jr might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Preston haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Rich Silva Jr wasn't active enough on the ground. Silva Jr closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Silva Jr lands a good knee to the midsection. Preston won't want to take too many of those. Preston is breathing heavily. Silva Jr wants the takedown. Preston is fighting it off but Silva Jr persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Preston's guard against the cage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silva Jr drops back looking for a leg! Preston is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Preston manages to kick Silva Jr off! Silva Jr jumps back into Preston's guard. Silva Jr drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Silva Jr jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Silva Jr working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Preston's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Silva Jr is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Silva Jr cracks Preston with a solid left hand. Silva Jr thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Silva Jr with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Silva Jr drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Silva Jr as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Preston screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Silva Jr! Nice submission victory there!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Rich Silva Jr! An out of breath Rich Silva Jr thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
