Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ken Masters!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masters moves out of range as Matis throws a body kick.
Matis is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Masters feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Matis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Matis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Matis tries to get to full guard but Masters has control of the leg.

Masters is pressing down on Matis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Matis is holding on for now.
Matis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Masters is working away from the top position though.

Masters seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Matis is controlling Masters's trapped leg to prevent Masters from advancing to side control.
Matis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Masters's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Masters's back!
Matis scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Masters is looking for a way out.

Matis wants to control the position but Masters says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Matis is looking to control Masters's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Matis avoid being mounted?

Masters perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Matis is trying to control but Masters passes into side control!

Matis stuffs the takedown attempt from Masters. Masters gets slowly back to his feet.
Masters shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Matis is working hard here to advance position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Matis is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Matis has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Ken Masters showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
