PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Solomon Tait (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antonio Jackson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson has managed to clinch.
Tait avoids a wild elbow strike from Jackson.
Tait avoids the elbow strike from Jackson, against the cage.
Nice elbow from Jackson.
Jackson comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Jackson lands a damaging elbow.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Jackson.
Tait could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Jackson pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by Jackson.
Tait is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Jackson to keep the fight standing.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tait swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jackson is pushing down on Tait's leg trying to pass to half guard. Tait is fighting to maintain full guard but Jackson has managed to sneak the leg through.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackson wants to work for an arm triangle but Tait is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Jackson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tait is just riding it out for now. Jackson eventually gives up the hold.

Jackson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fighters are battling for position here. Tait manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Jackson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Tait dives on top into guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tait. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jackson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Tait looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Tait has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A close second round but Antonio Jackson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Jackson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
With the fighters up against the cage, Jackson throws an elbow but misses.
Tait drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jackson pulls his leg out and moves away.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Tait might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Jackson wants to get up but he can't break Tait's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Jackson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Tait is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Tait has escaped and now he's on top!
Jackson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jackson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Tait is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Jackson swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Tait is now in Jackson's guard. A big mistake from Jackson there, giving up the dominant position!

Jackson is looking for a triangle here but Tait uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Tait thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Jackson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Tait connects with a decent elbow.

Tait working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tait wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jackson keeps working.
Jackson is trying to get back to half guard.
Jackson is trying to control Tait's posture but Tait avoids it.

Tait has hold of Jackson's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Jackson tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Tait cranks the arm and Jackson screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Jackson, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Solomon Tait!
