Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Pires (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Spartan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pires has managed to clinch.
Pires breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Spartan tries to keep at a distance but Pires has taken the fight into the clinch.

Spartan wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Pires pulls guard successfully.
Spartan won't allow Pires to sweep him here.
Pires looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Spartan wants to stand but Pires has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Pires has Spartan pulled in close to control his posture.
Pires is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Spartan wants to control from the top but Pires keeps moving.

Spartan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pires looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pires looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pires!
Pires tries for a kimura but Spartan is defending well.
Pires wants to control for a moment but Spartan uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Pires throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Pires moves into full mount! Spartan won't be happy about that!

Spartan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Pires swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Spartan is now in Pires's guard. A big mistake from Pires there, giving up the dominant position!
Spartan passes Pires's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Spartan wants to work for an arm triangle but Pires is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Spartan wants to take a breather but Pires is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pires is trying to stand up here but Spartan is controlling him well.
Spartan is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pires doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Spartan.
Spartan is trying to work for a kimura but Pires is defending well.

Spartan moves nicely into side control.
Pires wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Spartan wants to stand but Pires has his arm trapped.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Spartan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Pires is not content to let Spartan control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but The Spartan will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
A combination from Pires does no damage.
Spartan lands a jab.
It looks like Jorge Pires has been cut.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Spartan, as that shot connected.
Spartan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Pires throws a right hand that Spartan ducks under and follows up with a left that Spartan also avoids with ease.
Pires has taken the fight to the clinch.
Pires breaks from the clinch.
Pires fails in his attempt to clinch.
Spartan drops Pires with a beautiful combination! Pires stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Spartan is looking for the KO!
Pires is rocked!

Pires gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Spartan gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
