The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmellengartner fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Schmellengartner on the wrong end of a nice jab.
It looks like Frenk Schmellengartner has been cut.
Vanhood circles away from the clinch attempt
and Vanhood counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Vanhood throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Vanhood drops Schmellengartner with a left and a right! Oh, Schmellengartner is hurt - Vanhood dives into side control looking to finish!
Schmellengartner is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Vanhood working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Schmellengartner is still in real trouble! Can Vanhood finish him?
Vanhood is working to tighten is grip on Schmellengartner's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Schmellengartner has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Vanhood is really squeezing tight and eventually Schmellengartner passes out! Vanhood breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
