The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthews doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Barone counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Eric Matthews seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Barone has taken the fight to the clinch.

Matthews drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Matthews is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Barone is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Barone has escaped and now he's on top!
Barone will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Matthews had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Barone defends it easily.
