Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Todd Haiyes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremy Henderson! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Haiyes walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Henderson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Henderson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Haiyes motions for Henderson to come forward. Haiyes throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Haiyes walks into a stiff left hand from Henderson. Haiyes doesn't manage to clinch there - Henderson circles away.
Henderson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Henderson is working for a submission of some sort.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Henderson prevents Haiyes from standing back up.
Haiyes on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Haiyes tries to get out of the position. Henderson stalling. Henderson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Haiyes to stand up. Henderson with a hook. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Haiyes tries to clinch up and Henderson counters with a straight right hand. Haiyes tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Henderson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haiyes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Henderson swats him away and circles back towards the center. Todd Haiyes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Haiyes moves in looking to clinch but Henderson pushes him off. Henderson scores with a jab to the head.
Henderson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Haiyes pinned against the cage. Haiyes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Haiyes throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Henderson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Haiyes.
Jeremy Henderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Haiyes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Haiyes looks to throw a body kick and Henderson counters with a nice body kick.
A right-left combo lands from Henderson. Henderson scores with a jab to the head.
Haiyes doesn't manage to clinch there - Henderson circles away.
Nice uppercut lands for Henderson. That snapped Haiyes's head back.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Henderson throws a right hand that Haiyes ducks under and follows up with a left that Haiyes also avoids with ease. Haiyes displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Henderson.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Haiyes doesn't manage to clinch there - Henderson circles away.
Henderson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Haiyes on his heels. He'll look to pass Haiyes's guard now, I'm sure. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Haiyes is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Henderson is controlling him. Henderson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Haiyes works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Haiyes is looking to stand back up but Henderson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Haiyes. Henderson stops Haiyes from getting back to his feet.
Haiyes is breathing heavily. Henderson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Haiyes sees it coming and defends easily. Haiyes looks like he's trying to stand up.
Henderson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Henderson is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Haiyes is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jeremy Henderson!
