Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Demetrious Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jorge Kelvin! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kelvin misses with a takedown and Johnson counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Kelvin! Kelvin manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Kelvin is pressing down on Johnson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Johnson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Johnson looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson prevents Kelvin from getting back to his feet. Kelvin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Johnson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Kelvin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kelvin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Johnson lands a couple of digs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kelvin keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully. Johnson cracks Kelvin with a solid left hand. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson is stalling in the full guard. Johnson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Johnson throws a big elbow that misses. Johnson landing with the ground and pound. Kelvin keeping full guard, as Johnson tries to pass. Kelvin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Johnson is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson controlling from the top position. Johnson trying to control but Kelvin is working from the bottom. Johnson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Johnson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kelvin's head. Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Kelvin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johnson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kelvin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Johnson is controlling him. Johnson looking to sit in guard and control but Kelvin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Kelvin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Johnson is keeping the position for now. Johnson pulls Kelvin in close to prevent any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kelvin trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Demetrious Johnson wasn't doing enough on the ground. Kelvin has his takedown stuffed and Johnson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kelvin's guard now. Kelvin trying to keep a closed guard but Johnson is proving a slippery customer.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kelvin throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Demetrious Johnson dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Kelvin throws a leg kick enabling Johnson to counter with a crisp jab. Kelvin shoots and misses and Johnson counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Johnson!
Kelvin tries to clinch but Johnson moves away and Johnson counters with a one-two to the body. Johnson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Kelvin counters with a lovely shot to the body. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kelvin. Johnson misses with the combination.
Demetrious Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Johnson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Johnson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Kelvin takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kelvin keeps working. Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kelvin on the ground. Johnson tries to move to mount but Kelvin blocks the move with his legs. Kelvin is being controlled here. Johnson throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. You can see the frustration on Kelvin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Johnson lands an elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson is trying to ground and pound but Kelvin uses the momentary lack of control by Johnson to regain half guard. Johnson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Kelvin pushes Johnson off looking to stand but Johnson dives back in and keeps control.
Johnson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Kelvin trying to control here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Johnson stops Kelvin from getting back to his feet.
Johnson winds up and cracks Kelvin with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson working over Kelvin with some ground and pound. Kelvin looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Demetrious Johnson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Johnson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Kelvin is trying to control but can't.
Johnson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Kelvin wants to get back to his feet.
Kelvin is breathing heavily. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Johnson in particular looking to stall. Kelvin actively working from the bottom here. Johnson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kelvin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kelvin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Johnson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Johnson's back! Kelvin doesn't have the hooks in and Johnson manages to turn into his guard.
Johnson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kelvin's head. Johnson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Johnson connects with a couple of short punches. Johnson throws an elbow that misses. Kelvin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Johnson's guard. Nice move by Kelvin! Johnson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kelvin trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kelvin doesn't succeed with the takedown and Johnson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Johnson. Kelvin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Johnson is working Kelvin over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Johnson wants to control from the top but Kelvin keeps moving. Johnson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Demetrious Johnson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Johnson lands with a cross. Jorge Kelvin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kelvin napping and manages to drive through into side control! Kelvin taking punishment in the form of punches.
Kelvin is not content to let Johnson control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kelvin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Johnson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Kelvin manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Kelvin avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Johnson. Johnson tries to pass to full mount but Kelvin defends it. Johnson not landing any meaningful shots this time. Johnson trying to control the action but Kelvin is working from the bottom. Kelvin is pressing down on Johnson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Johnson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kelvin working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Johnson has passed into half guard!

Johnson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. And that's the end of the fight! Demetrious Johnson showed his dominance in that final round. Well Johnson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
