Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scrooge Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeff Gorden! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Jones lands with a cross. Gorden slips under a jab from Jones. A chopping leg kick lands by Gorden. A big right from Jones misses. Gorden avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Jones misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Scrooge Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones lands a jab to the nose. Jones scores with a three punch combo!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jones lands a leg kick that knocks Gorden off balance momentarily. Gorden lands a right hook to the body.
Jones throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Jones throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Gorden takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Jones closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gorden did well to prevent Jones getting side control. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Gorden trying to hold on to Jones's head to control him but Jones postures up.
Jones stands up and beckons Gorden to join him on the feet. Gorden bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gorden working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Gorden is trying to get an arm triangle but Jones is defending well. Gorden trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom. Jones is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Gorden is controlling him well. Gorden throwing shots but missing, from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Gorden asserts his dominance and retains side control. Gorden trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom. Jones bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Jones throws a combination that misses and Gorden counters with a shoot takedown. Jones fights it but they end up in guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gorden stops Jones from standing up. Jones keeping moving, preventing Gorden from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gorden looking to pass the guard. Gorden loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Gorden trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jeff Gorden. Gorden tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily and Jones counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Gorden fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Gorden changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jones looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones is pushing Gorden's head away, looking to escape. Gorden manages to hold on to the position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gorden wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy. Gorden is trying to get an arm triangle but Jones is defending well. Gorden working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Jones is not content to let Gorden control the position. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Jones is trying to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Scrooge Jones will probably get the nod. That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Gorden closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jones circles away. Jones keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Gorden dodges the punch combination from Jones.
Gorden shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Gorden keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Scrooge Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Gorden. Jones throws a lazy right hand but Gorden sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Gorden looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Gorden is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Gorden uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jones.
Gorden shoots in looking for a takedown but Jones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gorden's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Excellent takedown into side control there by Gorden. Jones wants to get back to his feet.

Gorden manages to hold on to the position though. Jones avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Gorden. Gorden sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Jones is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Gorden happy to just control the position for now. Gorden is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gorden looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Gorden tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Sloppy strikes there by Gorden. Gorden wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones is trying to get back to his feet. Jones is not content to let Gorden control the position. Jones is trying to buck Gorden off. Gorden swings around for an armbar but Jones sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gorden's guard. Jones is looking to stand up but Gorden won't let him. Gorden controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself. Jones wants to stand and escape but instead Gorden has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones is looking to stand up but Gorden isn't so interested in that idea. Gorden trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jones wants to stand but Gorden is controlling the position. Gorden is working Jones over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gorden wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Jones wants to stand up but Gorden is controlling him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jeff Gorden showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Gorden with a lazy takedown attempt and Jones counters with a three punch combo that has Gorden backing up. Gorden nods at Jones to acknowledge the strikes. Scrooge Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Gorden. Jones looks to land a left hand but Gorden moved out of range nicely. Jones throws the left hand but Gorden avoids the punch easily. Gorden misses the jab. Nice straight punches there by Jones. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Jones. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gorden on the wrong end of a nice hook. Jones throws the left hand but Gorden avoids the punch easily. Gorden shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jones sprawls well. Jones wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gorden gets slowly back to his feet. Gorden scores with a hook.
That's one minute gone in the round. No joy there for Jones, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jones stuffs the takedown. Gorden shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gorden moves away. A looping hook to the body misses from Jones. Gorden does a little dance to reset his feet. Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gorden. Gorden shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense. Scrooge Jones is winning the standup battle so far. Gorden takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Gorden shoots in and drives through. Jones sprawls well. Gorden shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jones defends it nicely. Gorden uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jones. A cross from Jones lands. Gorden shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Jones counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones gets through Gorden's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Jones scores with a shoulder strike. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gorden checks a leg kick. Jones fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Gorden. Gorden drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gorden is controlling him. Jones wriggles free and stands up. Jones throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gorden displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jones throws out the jab. Gorden shoots in but no luck this time. Jones throws a head kick that half lands.
Gorden scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Gorden trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom. Gorden is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jones is just riding it out for now. Gorden eventually gives up the hold. Jones wants to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones is refusing to be controlled, as Gorden sits in half guard. Jones pushes Gorden off and gets back to his feet. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jones throws a shot from downtown. Gorden moves away and avoids it. Gorden throws a good cross that connects.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! A swing and a miss from Jones. Gorden closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jones to the mat! Jones manages to get full guard. Gorden trying to move into half guard but instead Jones has managed to sweep! Jones wants to stand but Gorden has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
And that's the end of the fight! Scrooge Jones showed his dominance in that final round. I think Jones has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
