Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Casper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis comes to the cage accompanied by House of Pain - Jump Around. Marcus Davis has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jesse Casper!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis scores with a nice strike.
Davis lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Davis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Davis fails with an attempt to clinch.
Davis throws a series of strikes that have Casper backpedaling.


It looks like Jesse Casper has been cut.
Casper looks gassed!

Davis gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Davis wants to break free but Casper has control.
Casper wants a takedown but no success here.
Davis lands a left hand that snaps the head of Casper backwards.

Davis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Davis takes the fight into the clinch.

Davis manages to break the clinch.

Davis shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Davis perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Davis passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Casper!

Casper is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Davis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Davis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Casper should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A nice elbow there by Davis.
Davis landing punches.
Davis lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Casper tries to control Davis's body but Davis pushes him off. Casper squirms to his side and now Davis has his back!
Davis slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Casper covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Davis keeps control of the position as Casper tries to break free.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Davis controlling the positon.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Marcus Davis just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Davis is looking to clinch.

Davis gets a takedown into half guard.

Davis stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Casper to get to his feet.
Casper dodges the punch combination from Davis.
Casper is looking to clinch but Davis is avoiding it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Casper misses with a few strikes there.
Davis swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Davis clinches but Casper breaks the clinch

and Casper holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Casper.
Casper wants a takedown.
Casper tries for a takedown but Davis manages to get underhooks.
Marcus Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesse Casper.

Davis manages to break the clinch.

Davis closes the distance and clinches.
Casper can't get the takedown.
Casper tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Davis just stands there and leans against the cage.
Casper tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Davis drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Casper gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Davis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Davis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Davis pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Davis throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Davis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Davis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Davis gets to his feet - Casper follows without any prompting.
Casper slips a jab and a cross from Davis.

Davis scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Davis tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Casper gets back to half guard.

Davis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Casper tries to kick Davis off but Davis keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Davis seems to be working for a kimura but Casper defends the submission attempt.
Still in half guard, Davis seems content to control.

Davis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Davis gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Davis feints and as Casper raises his hands in defense, Davis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Davis stands up from Casper's guard - Davis perhaps looking for a knockout.
Davis lands with a nice combination. Casper backs away looking to recover.
Davis tries to clinch

and Casper counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Casper thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Davis's head.

Casper stands up out of the half guard.

Casper gets a takedown into half guard.

Davis moves into full guard.
Casper wants to control from the top but Davis keeps moving.
Casper won't allow Davis to sweep him here.

Davis is working an open guard so Casper takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Davis jabs at Casper's body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Davis circles away from the clinch attempt
and Davis counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Casper lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Davis keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Casper has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Davis.
Casper takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Casper fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Davis moves into range and clinches up with Casper.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Davis has had enough of the clinch but Casper keeps him there for the moment.

Casper successfully pulls guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Davis stands up from Casper's guard - Davis perhaps looking for a knockout.
Casper circles away from the clinch attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Davis throws a series of strikes that have Casper backpedaling.
Casper tries to move into range but Davis moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Davis lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Davis drives through and clinches with Casper against the cage.
Davis is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Davis wants to break the clinch but can't.
Casper lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Davis fails to pull guard.
Casper drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Marcus Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesse Casper.

Casper is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Casper pulls guard successfully.

Casper has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Davis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Davis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Davis distracts Casper with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Davis passes Casper's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Davis slips a nice elbow through Casper's hands, connecting with Casper's forehead.
Davis works his foot free and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davis has control of Casper's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Casper regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Casper is looking to improve his position but Davis isn't that keen on the idea.
Davis controlling his opponent.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Casper is in a horrible position here. Davis smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Davis in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Davis postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Casper looks a forlorn figure.

Davis is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Casper has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Jesse Casper has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Casper is working to get back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Marcus Davis showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Davis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
