PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kerm Frankin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chemical Ali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frankin comes to the cage accompanied by Svennebanan. Ali has chosen Bomb Canada as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Kerm Frankin has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kerm Frankin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chemical Ali!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ali misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Horrible takedown by Ali or perhaps it was just good defense by Frankin which made him look bad.
Ali stuffs the takedown.
Ali throws a shot from downtown. Frankin moves away and avoids it.
Ali looks to land a right hand but Frankin moved out of range.

Ali scores with a takedown into Frankin's guard.
Ali trying to stand up but can't free himself from Frankin's guard.
Frankin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Frankin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ali is one step ahead there.
Frankin keeping moving, preventing Ali from controlling successfully.

Frankin can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ali controls the pace.
Ali throws a big right hand that misses.
Ali stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Frankin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Frankin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A decent looking cross lands there for Ali.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Frankin defending well as Ali loads up on a big left hand.
Ali fails with the takedown.
Ali misses the jab.
Ali fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ali finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Ali shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Ali scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Ali sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Frankin defending well though.

Ali is looking to stall here but Frankin recovers full guard.

Frankin is looking for a triangle but Ali pushes his legs off easily.
Frankin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Frankin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ali doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ali manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Frankin is breathing heavily.
Ali tries to free his leg and advance position but Frankin is retaining full guard.
Frankin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ali is pushing down on Frankin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Frankin is fighting to maintain full guard but Ali has managed to sneak the leg through.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ali looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Frankin is trying to get back to full guard.

Ali wants to work for an arm triangle but Frankin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ali seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Frankin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Ali is working for a submission of some sort.
Frankin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ali on the ground.

Ali is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chemical Ali dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Ali shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Frankin is squirming around, avoiding Ali's attempts to control the action.

Ali goes for an armbar but Frankin turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Frankin.

Ali pulls Frankin in to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ali lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Frankin!

Ali is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Frankin is in real trouble.

Frankin looking very determined here, making life difficult for Ali.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Ali is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Frankin is tapping out! This one is all over!
