Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Antonio Braga! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jerome Frazier! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Braga walks into a left hand. Frazier lands a jab to Braga's midsection. Braga shoots in for a takedown but Frazier shows good takedown defense. Frazier lands a jab.
It looks like Antonio Braga has been cut. Frazier stuffs the takedown. Braga fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Antonio Braga. That's going to take a lot out of him. Frazier misses with a double jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Frazier lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Frazier misses the shot to the body. Frazier throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Braga throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Frazier tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Braga is in Frazier's guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Braga wants to control from the top but Frazier keeps moving. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Frazier can do anything to dispel that myth. Frazier looking for a guillotine here but Braga defends easily.
Braga stands up over Frazier, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Frazier not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Frazier is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Braga is controlling him. Braga seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Frazier is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Braga drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Frazier manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Braga has Frazier in his guard. Braga had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Frazier defends it easily. Frazier got a little sloppy there for a moment and Braga has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Frazier has managed to get both his arms back between Braga's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Frazier would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Frazier is posturing up here but Braga has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Frazier tries to roll out but it's too tight and Frazier has to tap! Slick submission there by Braga!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Antonio Braga! An out of breath Antonio Braga thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
