PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Marsden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marek Koltun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marsden's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Foe Tha Love Of Money by Bone Thugs-n- Harmony. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Brandon Marsden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Marek Koltun!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marsden staying out of range there.
Koltun misses with a looping right.
Marsden gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Koltun lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
A nice inside leg kick there by Koltun. That's going to slow Marsden down.
Koltun misses with a straight left.
A swing and a miss from Koltun.
Koltun scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

and Marsden counters with a left to the body.
Koltun throws a leg kick but Marsden moved away.
Koltun moves into range and connects with a jab.

Koltun fails to land with a series of punches.
Koltun pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Koltun throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Marsden sees it coming and avoids it easily.

and Marsden cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Koltun tries a head kick but it misses.
Marsden on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Koltun throws a jab but it's blocked by Marsden.
Koltun throws a lazy uppercut
enabling Marsden to counter with a crisp jab.
Koltun ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Marsden moves away.

and Marsden counters with a shoot takedown. Koltun fights it but they end up in guard.
Koltun pulls Marsden in close to prevent any damage.
Marsden working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Koltun is controlling Marsden's posture.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Marsden accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Koltun bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Marsden's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marsden working for a triangle but Koltun defends it easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Marsden escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Koltun gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

and Marsden counters with a stiff right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Koltun misses the shot to the body.

Koltun tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Marsden manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Koltun scores with a jab. Marsden acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Marsden keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Koltun fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Marsden manages to avoid it.
Marsden displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Koltun throws out the jab.
Marek Koltun seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Marsden counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Koltun tries to break the clinch but Marsden is controlling the position.
Marsden looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Koltun misses with a body punch.
Koltun lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Marsden has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Koltun is trying to keep an underhook but Marsden manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Marsden has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Marsden stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Koltun swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Koltun wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Marsden pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Koltun is keeping the position for now.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Koltun is on top in guard.
Marsden is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Koltun got a little sloppy there for a moment and Marsden has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Koltun has managed to get both his arms back between Marsden's legs - danger averted.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Koltun tries to clinch up but Marsden circles away and keeps his distance.

Marsden is working for a kimura but Koltun is defending it quite comfortably.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Marsden is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Koltun defends it well.
Marsden drops an elbow to the side of Koltun's head.

Marsden looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Koltun with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Brandon Marsden overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Marsden looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Koltun has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Marsden is working away from the top position though.

Marsden is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Koltun sees it coming and defends easily.
Koltun tries to get to full guard but Marsden has control of the leg.
Koltun is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Marsden scores with a couple of nice shots.
Marsden seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are battling for position here. Koltun manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Koltun working a defensive guard but Marsden manages to pass into side control anyway.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brandon Marsden.
I think Marsden has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
