PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Korchev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clark Preston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Korchev comes into the arena with Trenches blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Korchev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Clark Preston! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Preston slaps away a takedown attempt from Korchev, before circling back to the center of the mat. Korchev will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Preston rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Korchev counters with an outside leg kick.
Korchev tries to clinch but Preston is having none of it. Alex Korchev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Korchev fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex Korchev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Korchev cracks a nice hook into Preston's ribs. Korchev uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Preston. Preston is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Korchev. Korchev tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Preston manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. The crowd cheers as Preston lands an impressive looking overhand right. Korchev doesn't seem phased though. Korchev throws a head kick that misses. Korchev shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Preston as he avoids it easily. Nice jab there from Preston. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Preston cracks Korchev with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
That's one minute gone in the round. Korchev uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Preston. Clark Preston is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Preston lands with an overhand left. Preston throws a shot from downtown. Korchev moves away and avoids it. Korchev walks straight into a right hand from Preston - that's dropped him! Preston jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Korchev from any more punishment! Korchev complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Clark Preston!
