Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Turo Ko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tony Magnatty!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magnatty shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ko sprawls well. Ko wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Magnatty gets slowly back to his feet.
Magnatty gets caught napping as Ko dives in and scores a takedown. Magnatty manages to retain guard.
Ko might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Ko stays in close to Magnatty's body and controls the position.
Ko throwing strikes but missing.
Magnatty keeping full guard, as Ko tries to pass.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ko accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ko looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Magnatty keeping moving, preventing Ko from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ko is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Magnatty is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Magnatty utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ko working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Magnatty is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ko is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Magnatty is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Magnatty has escaped and now he's on top!
Ko is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Magnatty trying to control but Ko is working from the bottom.
Ko has his foot on Magnatty's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Magnatty works his way back into a safe position though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Magnatty throws a big right hand that misses.
Magnatty is sitting in close to Ko's body. Ko has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Magnatty is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Magnatty is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Ko.
