The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Longshafte with that takedown attempt.
Longshafte moves in looking to clinch but Wangu pushes him off.
Wangu fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Longshafte looks to land a body kick but Wangu moved away.
Wangu has his takedown stuffed

and Longshafte decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wangu's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Wangu is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Longshafte tries to free his leg and advance position but Wangu is retaining full guard.
Longshafte postures up and lands a big shot to Wangu's brow.
Longshafte is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Wangu looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Longshafte has picked Wangu up and slammed him! Wangu can't keep hold of the triangle and Longshafte manages to pass to side control!
Wangu is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Longshafte's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Wangu moves into full guard.

Longshafte works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Longshafte is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wangu defends it well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wangu is trying to get back to his feet but Longshafte has full control of the position and if anything, Wangu has just worked his way into a worse spot.
