PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Clark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Clark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Phil Harris!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris cracks the inside of Clark's front leg.

Harris feints and as Clark raises his hands in defense, Harris changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Harris wants to control from the top but Clark keeps moving.

Harris drops back, looking for a kneebar! Clark looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Clark looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Clark!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harris tries to improve position but can't.
Clark is looking to take a break and control but Harris is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Clark wants to stand but Harris has his arm trapped.
Harris tries to buck Clark off but Clark is having none of it.
Harris manages to get back to half guard.
Clark works his way into full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
BOOM! Clark connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harris tries to hold on but Clark postures up.
Clark scoring with strikes but Harris is staying in there.
Harris sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Harris trying to hold on to Clark's head to control him but Clark postures up.
Harris works his way to full guard. Good work.
Clark trying to control but Harris is working from the bottom.
Clark has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Harris pulls Clark in close to his closed guard and prevents Clark from doing any damage or advancing position.
Harris looking to hit a scissor sweep but Clark is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Harris scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Phil Harris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Clark displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Harris.
No luck for Harris with that takedown attempt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Harris changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Clark tries to avoid it but Harris manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Clark to the ground. Clark escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
John Clark has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Harris.
Clark throws a right and a left that Harris avoids nicely.

Harris has closed the distance and engaged Clark in a clinch.
Harris is pressed up against the cage. Clark has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Harris down to the mat. Harris avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Harris shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Clark as he jumps to the side.
No luck for Clark with that takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Harris fails with an attempt to clinch.
Clark is trying hard to land a takedown here. Harris sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Harris shoots for a double leg takedown but Clark sprawls well. He's pushed Harris's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Harris keeps the fight on the outside.
Clark ducks right into an uppercut from Harris.

Harris darts in and clinches Clark up against the cage.
Harris has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Clark avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Harris unloads a knee to the mid-section. Clark lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Clark wants to break free but Harris has control.
Clark jumps guard but Harris turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Harris tries for a takedown but Clark manages to get underhooks.

Harris has Clark pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Harris pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Clark tumbling to the mat - Harris dives into Clark's guard.

Clark has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Harris can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Clark is breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Harris wants to control from the top but Clark keeps moving.
Harris slips nicely into half guard.
Clark avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Harris.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Harris looking to pass the guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phil Harris dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Harris tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Clark swivels and escapes.
Clark tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Harris manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Clark tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Harris counters with a body kick that stops Clark in his tracks momentarily.
Clark takes a swing at Harris's ribcage but misses.

Harris clinches with his opponent.

Harris has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Clark is trying to keep an underhook but Harris manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Harris uses his free foot to push down on Clark's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Clark.
Clark's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Harris swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Phil Harris!
A relieved looking Phil Harris thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
