Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Flavio Marcelo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Pontes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marcelo comes into the arena with Nicky Romero - Toulouse blaring out of the sound system. Pontes has chosen Samba de Janeiro as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Flavio Marcelo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Pontes!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marcelo misses with a double jab.
Pontes shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Marcelo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Marcelo keeping moving, preventing Pontes from controlling successfully.
Marcelo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Pontes trying to control but Marcelo is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pontes might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Marcelo haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Pontes is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Felipe Pontes was stalling too much, according to the referee.
A solid leg kick lands there for Marcelo.
Marcelo leaves Pontes with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pontes moves out of range of the body kick from Marcelo.
Marcelo will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Flavio Marcelo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Pontes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Marcelo's guard.

Pontes wants to control from the top but Marcelo keeps moving.
Pontes drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Pontes as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Marcelo screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Pontes! Nice submission victory there!

An out of breath Felipe Pontes thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
