Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dakota Weston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Materson! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A combination from Weston does no damage. Weston stalks Materson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Materson's face. Materson staggers backwards, shaken.
It looks like Mike Materson has been cut. Weston misses with a hook
and Materson counters with a straight right hand. Weston gets caught flat footed, as Materson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Materson with a flurry of punches that miss. Weston can't keep his opponent in guard - Materson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Materson not landing any meaningful shots this time. Weston is defending against the submission attempts here by Materson.

That's one minute gone in the round. Materson wants to pass the guard but Weston is defending well. Materson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Materson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Weston defends it well. Materson missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Materson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Weston turns into him and now he's in Materson's guard.

He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Materson wants to control from the top but Weston keeps moving. Materson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Weston does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Weston kicks off Materson and gets to his feet. Materson gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Weston. Materson has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Weston moves into range and clinches up with Materson. Weston breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Materson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Materson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Weston is refusing to be controlled, as Materson sits in half guard. Materson not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Materson wants to control but Weston is keeping him busy. Mike Materson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Weston looks like he's trying to stand up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Weston is staying active underneath Materson, who seems content to just control the action from this position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Materson sitting and controlling from the half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
