PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kull Raider (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kull Raider!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Walker!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raider fails with an attempt to clinch.
Raider tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Walker paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Walker is looking to clinch.
No luck for Raider with that takedown attempt.
Raider fails with an attempt to clinch.
Raider is trying hard to land a takedown here. Walker sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Raider shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Walker sprawls well. Walker wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Raider gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kull Raider. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Raider tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Walker paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Raider is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Raider wants to break free but Walker has control.
Walker changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Raider fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Raider tries to clinch but Walker moves out of range.
Walker is looking to clinch.

Walker shoots in and gets a takedown into Raider's guard.
Walker content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Walker trying to control but Raider is working from the bottom.
Raider seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Walker trying to control but Raider is working from the bottom.
Raider will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Raider has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Walker has passed into side control.
Walker wants to control but Raider is keeping him busy.
Walker lands a decent elbow from side control.
Raider on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Raider tries to get out of the position.
Raider tries to bench press Walker off him but Walker keeps the position.

Raider holds on to Walker's head and controls the position momentarily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Raider tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Walker presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Raider tries to reverse the position but Walker maintains control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Raider throwing hammer fists to the chest of Walker. What's that going to do exactly?
Raider is wriggling around trying to escape.

Walker postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Raider looks a forlorn figure.
Raider is working to get back to half guard.
Raider tries to hold on but Walker pushes him away.
Raider is trying desperately to improve position.
Walker can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Raider is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Don Walker will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Raider shoots in looking for a takedown but Walker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Raider's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Walker is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Raider's half guard.
Raider tries to roll over but Walker keeps him under control.
Walker wants to pass to mount but Raider is defending the position.
Raider blocking the ground and pound attempt from Walker.
Raider knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Walker on the ground.
Raider is looking for a sweep. Walker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Walker seems to be looking for submissions.

Walker wants to take a breather but Raider is having none of it.
Raider tries to get to full guard but Walker has control of the leg.
Walker works his way into side control.
Walker is looking to take a break and control but Raider is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Raider tries to buck Walker off but Walker is having none of it.
Raider tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Walker easily slips into full mount!
Walker looking to ground and pound but Raider is blocking nicely.

Raider is wriggling around trying to escape.

Walker with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Raider holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Walker tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Raider is trying to reverse the position but instead Walker has taken his back - oops!
Walker trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Raider holding both Walker 's hands and preventing any damage.
Walker throwing damaging strikes from the back! Raider could be in trouble here!
Raider trying to control but not successfully.
Walker is punishing Raider with strikes - can he finish him?!

Walker is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Raider is defending well though. Walker let's go of the attempt for now.

Walker is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Raider trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Walker is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Raider can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Don Walker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Raider misses with a takedown
and Walker counters with a series of strikes. Raider will be more careful next time no doubt.
Raider looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Raider fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kull Raider. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Walker tries to bum rush Raider with a series of wild strikes but Raider uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Walker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Walker tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Raider fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Raider scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

The fight stays on the outside here - Walker looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Raider misses with an attempted mid kick.
Raider shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Walker as he avoids it easily.
Raider moves out of range of the strikes.
Raider fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Raider dodges the punch combination from Walker.
Walker takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Horrible takedown by Raider or perhaps it was just good defense by Walker which made him look bad.
Raider throws a solid leg kick but Walker takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Raider.

Walker swats away the attempt to clinch by Raider.
Raider shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Walker counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Raider's guard now.
Don Walker has got the better of the ground game so far.
Walker trying to control the position from guard on top but Raider is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Walker being controlled here momentarily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Walker wants to stand but Raider is controlling his posture from full guard.

Raider wants to stand up but Walker is controlling him.
Walker wants to get up but he can't break Raider's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Raider wants to stand and escape but Walker is having none of it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Raider stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Raider wants it to stay on the feet.
Walker throws a right and a left that Raider avoids nicely.
Raider is looking to land body kicks.
Walker throws a big shot that misses.
Raider misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Raider fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Raider tried to score with a low kick but Walker checks it.
Raider shoots in looking for a takedown but Walker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Raider's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Walker looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Raider misses with a head kick.
Raider motions for Walker to come forward. Raider throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Don Walker is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Raider dodges the punch combination from Walker.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Raider tries to clinch but Walker is having none of it.
Kull Raider has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Raider stalks Walker and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Walker's face. Walker staggers backwards, shaken.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kull Raider.
I think Walker has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
