Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mr Miley Cyrus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Mir throws a sloppy head kick and Cyrus moves out of range easily. Frank Mir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mir throws the left hand but Cyrus avoids the punch easily. Mir throws a sloppy head kick letting Cyrus counter with a right hand. Mir tries to clinch up and Cyrus counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Cyrus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mir swivels though and keeps the full guard. Cyrus is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cyrus tries to free his leg and advance position but Mir is retaining full guard. It's a sloppy attempt though and Cyrus jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Cyrus drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mir manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cyrus has Mir in his guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mir wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Cyrus's closed guard. He's half up but Cyrus has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Cyrus pivots and extends the arm, Mir falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Cyrus! Well done that man!
