Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Beniamino Comando!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Billy Rets!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rets feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Rets trying to control the position from guard on top but Comando is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Comando knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rets on the ground.
Rets postures up in Comando's guard and throws a big left but Comando blocks it.

Comando had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rets defends it easily.
Comando really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Rets pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Comando is keeping the position for now.

Comando has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rets can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Rets wants the takedown. Comando is fighting it off but Rets persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Comando's guard against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Comando is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rets is controlling him.

Rets wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Comando, who protects the arm well.
Rets has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Rets remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Rets throws a series of punches but Comando avoids them all with ease.
Comando shoots in looking for a takedown but Rets manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Comando's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Comando changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rets tries to avoid it but Comando manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rets to the ground. Rets escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rets is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Comando will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Rets swings around for an armbar but Comando sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Rets's guard.

Rets manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rets breaks from Comando's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Comando tries to hold on but Rets pushes him away.
Rets lands with some strikes.

Rets goes for an armbar but Comando turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Comando.

Comando will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Rets is trying to keep Comando in close.
Rets is looking to stand up but Comando isn't so interested in that idea.

Rets looking to hit a scissor sweep but Comando is one step ahead there.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Comando on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Comando tries to get out of the position.

Billy Rets showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Comando's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Rets throws a right and a left that both miss.

Rets fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Comando to the ground. Rets is now in Comando's guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Beniamino Comando wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Rets thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Comando's head.
Rets seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Comando does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
