Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Everaldo Evans! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joey The Lion! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The Lion blocks a head kick by Evans.
The Lion looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Evans scores with a nice body kick.
Evans stuffs the takedown. The Lion looks gassed! Evans throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Evans takes the fight into the clinch. The Lion tries to pull guard but Evans holds him up against the cage and eventually The Lion drops back down to his feet.
Everaldo Evans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey The Lion. Evans escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Evans throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Evans connects with a high kick. Evans shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in The Lion's guard. The Lion can't keep his opponent in guard - Evans advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Evans is looking for a kimura but The Lion is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Evans to get the leverage.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. The Lion had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Evans is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. The Lion Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Evans's back instead. The Lion is trying to stick to Evans's back but Evans is turning into The Lion. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in The Lion's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Evans. Evans forces his way into half guard. The Lion trying to get back to full guard but Evans takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Evans moves to take his opponent's back. The Lion rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Evans tries to pass the half guard into mount. The Lion knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The Lion moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. The Lion is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Evans has his hands clasped together but The Lion extends an breaks Evans's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by The Lion.
