Jones kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Hi my name is. The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roidos checks the leg kick.
Roidos fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Roidos persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Roidos is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Roidos is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Jones wants to get back to his feet.
Roidos thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Roidos seems to be looking for submissions.
Jones avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Roidos.
Roidos is working for a kimura but Jones is defending it quite comfortably.
Roidos misses with a head shot. Jones uses the momentum to regain guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Roidos pushes Jones off but Jones dives into side control.
Roidos tries to escape back to his feet but Jones has kept hold of him... Oh, now he's got Roidos's back and is looking for the choke... Is it? Is it sunk in? YES! Roidos is tapping! Jones saw the opportunity and took it - ruthless!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jon Jones!
A relieved looking Jon Jones thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
