Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jorge Pires!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Koko!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koko throws a combination. Pires tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Jorge Pires has been cut.
The fight stays on the outside here - Koko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Koko lands a slapping body shot.
Pires avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Koko shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Koko with a jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pires wants to clinch up but Koko keeps it at a distance.
Pires doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Pires is breathing heavily.
Pires tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Koko is able to avoid easily.
Koko throws a head kick that misses.
Pires misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Koko throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Koko fails to land with a series of punches.
Koko lands with an uppercut that bounces Pires off the cage and back into range.
Pires is rocked!
Koko throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Koko closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Pires out cold! Pires corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Michael Koko!
Our winner, Michael Koko, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
