Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Coonaments (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Coonaments's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Voodo. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Coonaments!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jacob Banks!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coonaments looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Coonaments drives through and clinches with Banks against the cage.
Banks with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Coonaments definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Banks successfully pulls guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Coonaments landing some decent shots from guard.
Coonaments working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Banks's head.
Banks tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Coonaments is working Banks over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Coonaments is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Coonaments is looking to work some ground and pound but Banks has wrist control.
Banks wants to sweep but no luck.
Coonaments has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Coonaments thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Coonaments is looking to stand up but Banks won't let him.
Banks throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Coonaments's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Coonaments is thwarting Banks's attempts to control the position.
Coonaments throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Coonaments seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Coonaments lands a nice short elbow.

Coonaments is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Banks sees it coming and defends easily.
Coonaments sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Banks defending well though.

Banks is looking to control Coonaments's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Banks avoid being mounted?
Coonaments working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Banks looks winded!

Banks tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Coonaments looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Banks with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Banks is trying to control but can't.

Coonaments seems to be working for a kimura but Banks defends the submission attempt.

Coonaments slips a nice elbow through Banks's hands, connecting with Banks's forehead.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Banks makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Banks.
Coonaments distracts Banks with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kevin Coonaments dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Coonaments moves in looking to clinch but Banks pushes him off.
Coonaments tries to bum rush Banks with a series of wild strikes but Banks uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kevin Coonaments seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Banks closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Coonaments quickly recovers to half guard.
Banks looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Coonaments is not content to let Banks control the position.
Coonaments manages to get to full guard.
Coonaments can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Banks controls the pace.
Coonaments is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Coonaments looking for a sweep. Not yet Coonaments, not yet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Coonaments isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Banks stacks Coonaments on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Banks!
Coonaments sneaks back into half guard.
Banks wants to take a breather but Coonaments is having none of it.

Coonaments is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Banks is tapping! Great win for Coonaments!

In his post fight interview, Kevin Coonaments started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
