Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Clifford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bue Colic!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Colic closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Colic throws a jab but it's blocked by Clifford.
Colic misses with the combination.
Clifford fails to land the takedown.
Clifford fails in his attempt to clinch.
Colic is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Colic wants to clinch

and Clifford counters with a single leg into guard. Colic didn't expect that.
Colic lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Clifford!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Colic wants to control the pace but Clifford is squirming around nicely.
Clifford tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Clifford tries to hold on but Colic pushes him away.
Colic thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Clifford is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Colic trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Colic might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Clifford kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Clifford sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Colic stalling away here and it's allowed Clifford to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Clifford has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Colic can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Colic drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Colic jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Clifford manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Colic manages to get himself to full guard.

Clifford tries to free his leg and advance position but Colic is retaining full guard.

Colic controls Clifford momentarily but Clifford frees himself.

Clifford drops back looking for a leg! Colic is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Colic manages to kick Clifford off! Clifford jumps back into Colic's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Clifford passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Clifford tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
You can see the frustration on Colic's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Colic is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Clifford working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Colic misses with a head kick.
Bue Colic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Clifford.
Colic tries to clinch but Clifford moves away

and Clifford moves into the clinch.
Colic drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Clifford gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Colic lands with a light punch inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Knees in the clinch landing for Clifford.
Colic is pressed up against the cage. Clifford has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Colic down to the mat. Colic avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Colic lands a jab to the head.
Clifford shoots in and drives through. Colic sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Clifford. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Clifford counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Mark Clifford is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Clifford is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Colic is just riding it out for now. Clifford eventually gives up the hold.

Colic wants to improve his position but instead Clifford has moved into half guard.
Clifford passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Colic!

Colic is looking to improve his position but Clifford isn't that keen on the idea.
Colic tries to lock up and control but Clifford gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Clifford jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Colic is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Colic and Clifford has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Colic wants to control but Clifford postures up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Clifford wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Colic, who protects the arm well.
Colic regains half guard.
Clifford trying to control from half guard but Colic is working away.
Colic wants to control but Clifford is keeping busy.
Colic is positioning himself well to prevent Clifford advancing to mount.

Clifford is looking for a kimura here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Horrible takedown by Clifford or perhaps it was just good defense by Colic which made him look bad.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Colic.
Clifford is working to avoid the ground and pound but Colic connects with a decent elbow.
Clifford prevents Colic from improving position.
Clifford is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Colic's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Colic is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Clifford moves into full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Clifford is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Clifford has his foot on Colic's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Colic works his way back into a safe position though.
Mark Clifford overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Clifford has his hands on Colic's head, controlling the position.

Clifford working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Colic doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Clifford is tightening it up a little... Colic has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Colic reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Colic taps out! nice BJJ there by Clifford!
