Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tanishk Soni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Munch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tanishk Soni!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Munch!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munch tries to close the distance and clinch but Soni swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Munch changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Soni tries to avoid it but Munch manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Soni to the ground. Soni escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The fighters circling - Munch throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Munch misses with a takedown attempt - Soni sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Munch throws a jab when Soni was well out of range.
A punch combination from Soni misses.
Munch shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Soni as he jumps to the side.
Tanishk Soni has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Munch.
Munch looks to land a right hand but Soni moved out of range.
Munch misses with an uppercut. Soni saw that one coming.
Soni looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nice sprawl there from Soni as Munch shoots in.
Soni looks for the body kick but Munch saw that one coming.
Munch throws a hook to the side of Soni's head but Soni sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Soni takes a jab right on the kisser.


It looks like Tanishk Soni has been cut.
Munch shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Soni as he jumps to the side.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Soni gets the takedown into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Munch is trying to buck Soni off.
Soni remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Munch wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Soni tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Soni has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Munch is trying to get back to his feet.

Munch seems a little lost for a moment, as Soni dominates the positioning.
Munch manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Tanishk Soni has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Munch throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Soni counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Soni.
Munch is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Soni tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Munch smiles and moves away.
Soni lands with a thumping leg kick.
Munch works Soni's body with a nice hook.
Soni swinging wildly here.
Soni cracks the inside of Munch's front leg.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Munch misses with a looping left.
A head kick misses from Munch.

Munch gets caught flat footed, as Soni shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Munch wants to stand and escape but Soni is having none of it.

Munch has his foot on Soni's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Soni works his way back into a safe position though.
Munch wants to hit a switch here but Soni passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Munch there!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but John Munch will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Tanishk Soni's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Munch throws a nice looking combination but Soni bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Munch misses the shot to the body.

Soni throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Munch tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Soni is in Munch's guard.
Munch is trying to control the position but Soni postures up.
Munch wants to stand and escape but Soni is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. John Munch was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Munch cracks Soni with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Soni closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Munch quickly recovers to half guard.
Munch desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Munch is looking to escape.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Soni.
Munch misses with a combination

and Soni counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Soni.

Soni manages to pull guard.
Soni preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Soni is pulling down on Munch's head to control his posture.
Munch trying to control the position from guard on top but Soni is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Munch controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. John Munch wasn't active enough on the ground.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Munch wants to stand up but Soni is controlling him.

Munch pushes Soni off and scrambles back to his feet.

Munch throws a sloppy head kick and Soni moves out of range easily.
Munch attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Soni decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Munch wants to stand back up but Soni manages to pass into side control.
Soni wants to control but Munch is keeping him busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Munch is looking for a sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Munch dives in and scores a takedown into Soni's guard.
Munch's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Munch stopping the sweep attempt from Soni.

Soni utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Soni might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Some wild striking there from Munch.
Soni ducks under a wild hook from Munch.
Munch waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Soni.
Munch throws a sloppy head kick and Soni moves out of range easily.

Soni shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Soni wants to control from the top but Munch keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tanishk Soni.

Soni bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Munch tries to clinch there but Soni circles away.

Soni avoids a punch combination nicely.
Soni displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Munch throws out the jab.
Munch takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Soni shoots in and gets a takedown into Munch's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Soni sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Munch's guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Soni in particular looking to stall.

Munch is trying to control but can't.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Tanishk Soni just wasn't active enough.
Munch tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Munch gets caught napping as Soni dives in and scores a takedown. Munch manages to retain guard.
Munch wants to stand up but Soni is controlling him.

Soni throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Munch's waist but Munch gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Soni off to one side.

Munch scores with the left hand. Soni knows he should have avoided that one.
Munch is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Soni lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Munch breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Munch throws a head kick that misses.

Soni shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Munch is trying to defend but Soni finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tanishk Soni.
I think Soni has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
