PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chirs Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scuba Steve (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chirs Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Scuba Steve!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steve shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jackson pinned against the cage. Jackson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Jackson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Steve, pushing him back against the cage.

Jackson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Steve's efforts to push away.

Jackson manages to pull guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Jackson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Steve postures up in Jackson's guard and throws a big left but Jackson blocks it.
Jackson pulls Steve in close to his closed guard and prevents Steve from doing any damage or advancing position.
Steve tries to stand but Jackson is controlling from the bottom.

Steve in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jackson keeping moving, preventing Steve from controlling successfully.
Jackson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Jackson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Steve swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Chirs Jackson will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Horrible takedown by Jackson or perhaps it was just good defense by Steve which made him look bad.

and Steve counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Steve tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Jackson.
Steve wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jackson keeps working.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Scuba Steve wasn't active enough on the ground.
Jackson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chirs Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jackson clinches up with Steve and pushes him back against the cage.

Steve has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jackson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Jackson connects with a leg kick. Steve looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Jackson darts in and clinches Steve up against the cage.

Steve wants to stand up but Jackson is controlling him.

Steve is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jackson cracks the inside of Steve's front leg.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jackson throws a series of punches but Steve avoids them all with ease.
A left and a right from Jackson both land. Nice combination.
Steve tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jackson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jackson lands a high kick!

Steve closes the distance and clinches.
Steve gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jackson.
Jackson can't get the takedown.
Steve is trying to stall.
Jackson tries to pull guard but Steve holds him up against the cage and eventually Jackson drops back down to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson has had enough of the clinch but Steve keeps him there for the moment.
Jackson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A close second round but Scuba Steve will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Steve has gone for a leg lock! Jackson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Steve's guard.

Steve lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jackson!
Steve can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jackson is looking to escape.

Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Steve on the ground.

Steve can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jackson is looking to escape.

Jackson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Scuba Steve comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Steve has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
