Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Randy Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Grant Dawkins!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dawkins misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Jones working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Jones scoring with punches to the head and body.
Dawkins tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dawkins has momentary wrist control but Jones slips an elbow through the middle.
Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dawkins works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Dawkins can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jones controls the pace.
Jones working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Dawkins's head.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Dawkins is keeping the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones throws a big elbow that misses.
Jones with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Jones stands up and waves to Dawkins to follow him.
Jones closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dawkins to the mat! Dawkins manages to get full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Dawkins utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jones passes Dawkins's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Dawkins wants to control but Jones is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones trying to pass the guard but Dawkins defending well.
Jones works his way into full mount!
Jones landing strikes from the mount and Dawkins is in trouble!
Jones controlling from mount.
Jones is landing with some decent strikes but Dawkins is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones looking to finish Dawkins with some ground and pound. This is bad for Dawkins!
Dawkins is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dawkins takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Jones's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
