Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Zander Murie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nate Ross!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ross slips under a jab.
Murie connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ross's hands.
Ross takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Ross misses with a straight left.
Murie pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Murie throws out a powerful jab.
Ross uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Murie.
Murie uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ross.
Murie misses with an uppercut.
Ross throws a jab but it's blocked by Murie.
Murie thows a body shot but no joy.
Ross misses the jab.
Murie scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ross doesn't seem bothered though.
Nate Ross seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ross on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ross ducks right into an uppercut from Murie.
Ross shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Murie scores with a jab to the body.
Murie scores with a head kick. Ross tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Murie lands a slapping body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ross ducks under a wild hook from Murie.
A big right from Murie misses.
A big right from Ross misses.
Ross uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Murie.
Nice defenses there by Murie.
Ross slips under a jab.
Ross takes one to the side of the head.

Ross drops Murie with a beautiful combination! Murie stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Ross is looking for the KO!
Ross looks winded!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ross with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Murie to score with a decent uppercut.
Ross sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Ross takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Jab from Murie.
Murie is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Murie lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ross's sensitive parts.

Murie scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Murie thows a huge punch but Ross dodges it nicely.
Murie working over Ross with some ground and pound. Ross looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Murie throwing shots but Ross is blocking nicely.

Murie is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Ross won't allow Murie to pass to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ross wants to get back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ross can do anything to dispel that myth.
Murie looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Murie throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Murie lands a nice short elbow.
Murie looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ross with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Murie in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Ross tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Murie!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Zander Murie!
