PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Konrad Kurze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Johnny Cash - Hurt. Matt Miller will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Konrad Kurze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Miller!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Phil Schofield and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kurze moves away.
Miller throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kurze blocks a jab.
Miller shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Miller takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Kurze cracks a nice hook into Miller's ribs.
Nice body punch from Kurze.
A cross from Miller lands.
Miller keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Miller leaves Kurze with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Miller ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kurze moves away.
Donk. Kurze catches Miller right on the button with a cross.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kurze looks to score with a jab to the body but Miller is just out of range.

Miller misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Miller fails to land with a series of punches.
Miller wants to clinch up but Kurze keeps it at a distance.
Kurze misses with an uppercut.

Miller swings wildly with an uppercut but Kurze uses good head movement to avoid it.

Kurze drags the fight down to the ground.
Kurze wants to sweep but no luck.

Kurze looking for a guillotine here but Miller defends easily.
Miller is looking to work some ground and pound but Kurze has wrist control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miller with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Kurze trying to keep a closed guard but Miller is proving a slippery customer.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kurze has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Miller is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kurze.
Kurze sneaks back into half guard.

Miller tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kurze knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Kurze slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Kurze controls Miller momentarily but Miller frees himself.

Kurze has his foot on Miller's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Miller works his way back into a safe position though.
Miller is looking to work some ground and pound but Kurze has wrist control.

Miller is pushing down on Kurze's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kurze is fighting to maintain full guard but Miller has managed to sneak the leg through.
Miller slips a nice elbow through Kurze's hands, connecting with Kurze's forehead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miller throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kurze is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Miller scores with a couple of nice shots.

Kurze is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Miller's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Miller's back!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Miller rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Miller is looking to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kurze is trying to control. Miller wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Matt Miller will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kurze connects with a high kick.
Kurze takes a swing at Miller's ribcage but misses.
Miller on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Matt Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kurze checks a low kick from Miller.
Good leg kick by Miller there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Kurze drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Miller rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kurze moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Miller avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Kurze staying out of range there.

Kurze gets a takedown into half guard.
Miller has his hands clasped together around Kurze's back. He's all about the action.
Miller tries to get to full guard but Kurze has control of the leg.

Miller connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Kurze with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Miller to score with a decent uppercut.
Miller moves into range and connects with a jab.
Miller misses with a straight left.
Kurze ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Miller moves away.

and Miller counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Kurze!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Miller unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Kurze wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Miller celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Miller!
A very excited looking Matt Miller made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
