Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dave Benevides (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Les Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hell & Back kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 19 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Benevides!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 17 - 1, fighting out of New York, Les Paul!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Columbo Gatti and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benevides shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Paul as he avoids it easily.
Benevides blocks a head kick by Paul.
Paul tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Benevides paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Paul shoots in and drives through. Benevides sprawls well.

Benevides scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Paul looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Benevides is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Benevides is trying to work for a kimura but Paul is defending well.
Benevides trying to advance position but Paul counters by regaining guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are battling for position here. Benevides manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Benevides is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Paul defends well.

Paul got a little sloppy there for a moment and Benevides has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Paul has managed to get both his arms back between Benevides's legs - danger averted.

Benevides closes the distance and clinches up with Paul, looking for a takedown. Benevides pushes Paul against the cage but Paul circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Benevides takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Paul slaps away a takedown attempt from Benevides, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Benevides tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Paul wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Paul wants to stand and escape but instead Benevides has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Paul escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Benevides gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Benevides drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Paul dives on top into guard.

Paul is looking to stand up but Benevides won't let him.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Benevides is working an open guard so Paul takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Benevides shoots in looking for a takedown but Paul manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Benevides's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Benevides.

Benevides rushes Paul and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Benevides is trying to pull guard but Paul has him pressed against the cage.

Paul wants to control but Benevides is keeping him busy.

Benevides looks for a takedown but Paul sprawls well.
Paul lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Benevides avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Paul tries to clinch there but Benevides circles away.

Benevides takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Benevides throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Paul's waist but Paul gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Benevides off to one side.

Paul lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Benevides circles away quickly and effectively.

Benevides tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Paul just stands there and leans against the cage.

Paul gets control of Benevides's arms and successfully pulls guard. Paul will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Paul bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Benevides's guard.

Benevides is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Paul is aware though and is defending well.

Paul decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
