Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between NaKai Mariner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bonner Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, NaKai Mariner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bonner Jones!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Lou da Vinci and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mariner trying to control from the bottom.
Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Jones is keen to just control but Mariner is a slippery customer.

Jones closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mariner's guard.
Mariner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.
Mariner looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Jones puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Jones stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Mariner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Jones counters with a slapping leg kick.
Mariner is breathing heavily.
Jones wants to clinch up but Mariner keeps it at a distance.
Jones throws a right hand that Mariner ducks under and follows up with a left that Mariner also avoids with ease.
Mariner swinging wildly here.
Crunch! Jones slams his shin into Mariner's torso.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mariner on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Mariner keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
NaKai Mariner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bonner Jones.
Mariner shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
and Jones counters with a left and a right that stings Mariner.

Mariner forces Jones back against the cage and clinches.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Mariner breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Mariner will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Mariner on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Jones. Jones obviously looking to wear him down.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mariner on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mariner tries to get out of the position.
Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mariner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Mariner won't allow Jones to pass to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mariner throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Jones manages to pass to side control.
You can see the frustration on Mariner's face as Jones controls the position.
Jones is looking to take a break and control but Mariner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jones stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mariner lands a lovely overhand right.
Jones tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mariner was well out of range. Poor timing from Jones.
A clash of legs there as Jones blocks the low kick.
Mariner throws a solid leg kick but Jones takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Mariner.

Jones closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mariner's guard.

Jones is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Jones gets to his feet - Mariner follows without any prompting.
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Mariner circles away.
Mariner throws a lazy head kick
and Jones finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Mariner throws a lazy right hand but Jones sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mariner lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Mariner.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown but Mariner manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jones's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mariner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jones is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Bonner Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Jones is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Mariner has his hands clasped together but Jones extends and breaks Mariner's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Jones.
