PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lee Kesler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clock Stop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kesler's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, frist ufc theme. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lee Kesler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clock Stop!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kesler showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Stop.

Stop dives in and scores a takedown into Kesler's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stop passes Kesler's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kesler is looking for a sweep. Stop is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Stop lands strikes from half guard.
Kesler is refusing to be controlled, as Stop sits in half guard.
Kesler tries to get to full guard but Stop has control of the leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stop wants to control but Kesler is keeping him busy.
Stop content to control rather than advance.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Clock Stop.
Stop throws the kick towards the body but Kesler avoids it.
Kesler shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stop as he avoids it easily.

Stop gets caught flat footed, as Kesler shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Stop is trying to keep Kesler in close.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kesler trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Clock Stop hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Stop throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Lee Kesler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kesler shoots in looking for a takedown but Stop manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kesler's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Stop shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kesler is trying to defend but Stop finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Stop seems to be looking for submissions.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kesler wants to get back to full guard.
Kesler is not content to let Stop control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kesler moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Stop keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kesler's head.
Stop stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kesler swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Stop trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kesler's guard.
Stop passes Kesler's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Stop tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stop works his way into side control.
Kesler is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Stop tries to pass to full mount but Kesler defends it.
Stop is nestled in close to Kesler, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kesler wants to get back to full guard.
Kesler is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Stop is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Stop decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clock Stop dominated that round.
That's time! Kesler's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Stop looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Stop is keen to just control but Kesler is a slippery customer.
Kesler wants to get back to full guard.
Stop trying to control from half guard but Kesler is working away.
Stop is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Stop wants to take a breather but Kesler is having none of it.

Clock Stop has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Stop leaves Kesler with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.

and Stop decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kesler's guard.
Stop passes into half guard.

Stop is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Kesler is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stop tries to pass to full mount but Kesler defends it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Stop postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Kesler to stand up.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kesler shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Stop moves into the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lee Kesler. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kesler is looking to take this one to the mat.

Stop decides to pull guard.
Stop trying to keep a closed guard but Kesler is proving a slippery customer.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kesler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stop swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Clock Stop wasn't active enough on the ground.

Kesler closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stop did well to prevent Kesler getting side control.
Stop gets back to full guard.
Stop trying to control the position.
Kesler trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Stop pulls Kesler in close to his closed guard and prevents Kesler from doing any damage or advancing position.
Kesler has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Lee Kesler.

and Stop counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Stop has Kesler pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Stop pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kesler tumbling to the mat - Stop dives into Kesler's guard.
Stop wants to control from the top but Kesler keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stop makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clock Stop showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Stop misses the shot to the body.
Kesler shoots for a double leg takedown but Stop sprawls well. He's pushed Kesler's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kesler shoots in for a takedown but Stop shows good takedown defense.

and Stop counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Stop.

Stop stands and throws Kesler's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Stop trying to control the position but Kesler is working away.
Kesler is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Stop connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kesler some visible discomfort.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stop is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kesler will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stop is looking to take a break and control but Kesler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kesler tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Stop tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Stop is trying to get an arm triangle but Kesler is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kesler tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Stop wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Stop has hold of Kesler's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Kesler tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Stop cranks the arm and Kesler screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Kesler, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Clock Stop!
