Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Satoshi Kon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rub Sparapani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Satoshi Kon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rub Sparapani!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sparapani tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kon.
Kon misses with a body kick.
Kon shoots for a takedown but Sparapani saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Kon drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Sparapani manages to get back to half guard.
Still in half guard, Kon seems content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sparapani is looking for a sweep. Kon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kon is thwarting Sparapani's attempts to control the position.
Kon prevents Sparapani from improving his position.
Sparapani keeps trying to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Well, if Kon is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Satoshi Kon wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Sparapani shoots for a double leg takedown but Kon sprawls well. He's pushed Sparapani's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sparapani gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Kon counters with a shoot takedown. Sparapani fights it but they end up in guard.
Sparapani looking to control.
Sparapani keeping moving, preventing Kon from controlling successfully.
Sparapani looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kon is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Kon has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sparapani is proving hard to escape from.

Sparapani manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sparapani keeps the fight on the outside.
Sparapani just misses with a punch to the body.
Sparapani misses with a takedown attempt
and Kon counters with a straight right hand.
Satoshi Kon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rub Sparapani.
Sparapani throws a jab when Kon was well out of range.

Kon looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Sparapani!
Sparapani sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Sparapani looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Kon prevents Sparapani from standing back up.
Kon is thwarting Sparapani's attempts to control the position.
Kon tries to pass the half guard into mount. Sparapani knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Kon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sparapani on the ground.
Sparapani wants to control but Kon is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Sparapani moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sparapani is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sparapani looking for a sweep. Not yet Sparapani, not yet.
Kon wants to control from the top but Sparapani keeps moving.

Sparapani looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kon is looking to work some ground and pound but Sparapani has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Satoshi Kon will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A head kick misses from Sparapani.
Kon throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sparapani misses with a body kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kon fails to land the takedown.
Kon misses with a head kick.
Kon fails with the takedown.
Kon circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sparapani misses with a takedown attempt - Kon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Kon shoots in and gets a takedown into Sparapani's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sparapani swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Satoshi Kon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sparapani wants to stand but Kon is controlling the position.

Kon decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sparapani, up you get!
Sparapani tries to land a front kick but Kon steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Kon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Sparapani trying to control but Kon is working from the bottom.
Sparapani advances position into side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sparapani is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kon has escaped the position, nice work there.
Sparapani tries to move into full mount but can't pass Kon's legs.

Sparapani has hold of Kon's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Kon seems comfortable defending it but Sparapani has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Kon is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Kon is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Sparapani couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rub Sparapani!
