PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ted Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane MacLain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacLain has chosen Drowning Pool - Bodies (Let The Bodies Hit The Floor as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ted Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 14 - 1, fighting out of London, Shane MacLain!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacLain avoids a punch combination nicely.
MacLain misses with a head kick.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but MacLain paws at him with a jab and circles away.

MacLain gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Smith is trying to drag MacLain to the mat but MacLain just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Smith throws an elbow that misses.
Smith using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Smith lands an elbow just above MacLain 's eye.

MacLain turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and MacLain manages to end up in side control.
MacLain trying to control the position but Smith is working away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith is not content to let MacLain control the position.
Smith wants to control but MacLain postures up.
Smith manages to get back to half guard.
MacLain winds up and cracks Smith with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Smith has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. MacLain is working away from the top position though.
Smith has hold of MacLain's hands but MacLain slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith wants to get back to full guard.
MacLain throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Smith trying to hold on to MacLain's head to control him but MacLain postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
MacLain looks to land a strike but Smith avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith seems keen to control MacLain's posture.

Smith looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Smith keeping moving, preventing MacLain from controlling successfully.
MacLain pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Smith is keeping the position for now.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
MacLain working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

MacLain avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

MacLain is looking to work some ground and pound but Smith has wrist control.
MacLain with a flurry of punches that miss.
MacLain works a leg free and moves into half guard.
MacLain thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
MacLain with the ground and pound but Smith uses the opportunity to regain guard.

MacLain is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Smith has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. MacLain is looking to defend but Smith has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for MacLain! Smith pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, MacLain taps out and this one is all over!
