PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stan Cuttz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Stan Cuttz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jack Lee!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cuttz defends it nicely.
Lee tries to clinch but Cuttz moves out of range.
Cuttz shoots in looking for a takedown but Lee manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cuttz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Cuttz shoots in and gets a takedown into Lee's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lee controls Cuttz momentarily but Cuttz frees himself.
Cuttz looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Cuttz tries to free his leg and advance position but Lee is retaining full guard.
Lee preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Cuttz wants to pass the guard but Lee is keeping the position.
Cuttz's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Stan Cuttz has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Lee feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Cuttzs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Cuttz rushes Lee and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Lee tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cuttz smiles and moves away.
Lee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cuttz pinned against the cage. Cuttz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Stan Cuttz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Lee.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Cuttz prevents the takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cuttz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lee is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Cuttz landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Lee pulls guard effortlessly.
Cuttz stays in close to Lee's body and controls the position.
Cuttz with a flurry of punches that miss.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lee is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cuttz defends well.
Cuttz is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Cuttz gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Cuttz shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Lee misses with some strikes from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cuttz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Cuttz has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Stan Cuttz wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Lee stuffs the takedown attempt from Cuttz. Cuttz gets slowly back to his feet.
Lee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lee shoots for a double leg takedown but Cuttz sprawls well. He's pushed Lee's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cuttz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lee's guard.

Lee is looking for a triangle but Cuttz pushes his legs off easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Stan Cuttz.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cuttz swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Cuttz shoots in but Lee avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Lee displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cuttz.

Cuttz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lee lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Cuttz blocks a jab.
Lee will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lee shoots in for a takedown but Cuttz shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Cuttz swats away the attempt to clinch by Lee.
Lee tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lee.
Stan Cuttz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Lee.
Cuttz leaves Lee with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Cuttz closes the distance and clinches up with Lee, looking for a takedown. Cuttz pushes Lee against the cage but Lee circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cuttz paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Lee closes the distance and clinches.
Lee tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Lee is looking to control Cuttz's arms but Cuttz gets an underhook and turns him. Now Lee has his back to the cage.

Lee pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lee shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cuttz defends it nicely.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Cuttz is looking for a takedown.

Cuttz manages to break the clinch.
Horrible takedown by Lee or perhaps it was just good defense by Cuttz which made him look bad.
Cuttz keeps the fight on the outside.
Stan Cuttz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lee has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cuttz closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lee scores with a sloppy right hand. Cuttz should have avoided that one.

Lee shoots in looking for a takedown but Cuttz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lee's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Lee takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Cuttz misses with a takedown attempt - Lee sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cuttz lands a few punches from side control.
Lee strikes from the bottom but Cuttz takes advantage and advances to full mount!

Stan Cuttz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cuttz seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lee for as long as he can get away with.
Cuttz won't let Lee get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Cuttz lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Lee hold on?!
Cuttz really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Lee.
Cuttz is landing with strikes. Lee can't take much more of this.

Cuttz is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Lee up.
Lee looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Cuttz has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Lee has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Well Cuttz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
