Coming up we have a welterweight kickboxing rules bout between Niklaus Michaels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Niklaus Michaels! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Chan! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chan slips a jab from Michaels. Michaels throws a push kick but Chan slaps the foot to one side. Chan misses with an attempted mid kick.
Michaels lands with a nice body punch. Chan pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. A looping hook to the body misses from Chan. Michaels does a little dance to reset his feet. Niklaus Michaels seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chan lands a head kick that bluckles Michaels and drops him to the canvas. He's still conscious but it looks like it's going to take him the full 10 seconds to get back his senses! He's up on 9 and seems to be just about OK to continue.... the referee agrees and we're back to the action with Chan no doubt looking to push for a finish! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Chan misses with a low kick as Michaels jumps back. Michaels tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chan swats him away and circles back towards the center. Michaels connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Michaels tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chan swats him away and circles back towards the center. Chan takes a body punch but keeps moving. This has been an exciting period of action! Some wild striking there from Chan.

Michaels is trying to maintain a safe position but Chan gets an underhook and turns Michaels into the ropes. Chan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Chan walks into a stiff left hand from Michaels. Michaels tries to land a front kick but Chan steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Chan slips a jab and a cross from Michaels.
Chan throws a head kick that misses and Michaels counters by moving into the clinch. Chan using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Michaels has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Having scored a knockdown, Paul Chan should take round 1, putting pressure on his opponene back strong in round 2. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

A combination from Michaels does no damage. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Chan drops his hands momentarily and Michaels takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Michaels is looking to clinch but Chan is avoiding it.

Paul Chan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Chan throws a head kick that misses. Chan feints a jab promting Michaels to slip. Chan then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Michaels slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Michaels lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Paul Chan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Chan manages to break the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Paul Chan. Well Chan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
