PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nick Nolter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willy Tert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Willy Tert struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.3lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Willy Tert!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tert circles away from the clinch attempt.

Tert shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nolter manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Nolter is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Tert is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Nolter is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Tert is controlling him.
Tert slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Tert should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Let's hope that Tert has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Willy Tert was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Nolter tries to close the distance and clinch but Tert swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Nolter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tert as he avoids it easily.
Tert leaves Nolter with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Nolter looks for a takedown but Tert sprawls well.
Nolter shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tert sprawls well. Tert wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nolter gets slowly back to his feet.
Nick Nolter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tert is looking to slow Nolter down with leg kicks.

Nolter is pushing Tert's head away, looking to escape. Tert manages to hold on to the position though.

Tert tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Nolter is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Nolter closes the distance and clinches up with Tert, looking for a takedown. Nolter pushes Tert against the cage but Tert circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Nolter tries for a takedown but Tert sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Nolter shoots in looking for a takedown. Tert tries to sprawl out of it but Nolter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tert manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nolter shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tert as he jumps to the side.

Tert manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Nolter on his heels. He'll look to pass Nolter's guard now, I'm sure.

Nolter is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Well, if Tert is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Nolter pushes Tert off looking to stand but Tert dives back in and keeps control.

Nolter throws a combination that misses
and Tert counters with a big head kick but Nolter shrugs it off.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well Tert has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
