Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tim Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mookie Hamfist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mookie Hamfist! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hamfist looks to score with a jab to the body but Johnson is just out of range. Johnson throws a nice outside leg kick. Mookie Hamfist seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hamfist throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Hamfist throws a nice looking combination but Johnson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Johnson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hamfist's waist but Hamfist gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side. Hamfist shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnson pinned against the cage. Johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Hamfist fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hamfist fails with a takedown attempt. Johnson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hamfist. Johnson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hamfist defends it nicely. No joy there for Hamfist, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hamfist.
Johnson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hamfist backs up against the cage.
Johnson throws a lazy right hand but Hamfist sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Hamfist keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Johnson lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Johnson misses with a takedown attempt - Hamfist sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hamfist lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Johnson circles away quickly and effectively. Hamfist takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Johnson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Hamfist wants to control but Johnson postures up. Hamfist managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Johnson.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Hamfist is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Hamfist is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Johnson off and has taken his back! Hamfist goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Johnson escapes and is now in half guard on top. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hamfist tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Johnson has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Hamfist tries to get back to half guard but can't. Johnson landing strikes from the mount. Hamfist really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hamfist sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Johnson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Hamfist gets back to full guard.
Johnson throws a big elbow that misses. Hamfist is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Johnson has his hands clasped together but Hamfist extends and breaks Johnson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hamfist.
