Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Ewell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hedrig Pokousha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ewell comes to the ring accompanied by White Dude. Steve Ewell has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Steve Ewell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hedrig Pokousha!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pokousha clinches up against the ropes.
A short right from Pokousha.
Pokousha is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Ewell is defending well.
Ewell keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Pokousha's efforts to push away.
Pokousha has a couple of punches blocked by Ewell.
Ewell creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Pokousha's defenses.
Pokousha is working for takedown but Ewell is calmly controlling the position for now.
Ewell prevents a body shot from Pokousha.

Pokousha manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Pokousha tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pokousha can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ewell controls the pace.
Pokousha is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Ewell is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Ewell has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We're going to have a standup here because Steve Ewell wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Pokousha tries to clinch but Ewell moves out of range.
Pokousha scores with a decent looking hook.
Ewell doesn't manage to clinch there - Pokousha circles away.
Pokousha ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ewell moves away.
Ewell tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pokousha swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Ewell counters with a takedown into side control.
Pokousha is looking for a sweep.

Ewell is looking to take a break and control but Pokousha is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Pokousha is trying to control Ewell's posture but Ewell avoids it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pokousha looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ewell tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Pokousha manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A jab from Pokousha finds it's way through Ewell's defenses.

and Ewell makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and Ewell counters with a head kick that drops Pokousha to the mat! Pokousha scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ewell doesn't manage to clinch there - Pokousha circles away.
Ewell walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Ewell tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Pokousha manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pokousha closes the distance but Ewell moves to the side
and Ewell counters with a body kick.
Ewell dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Ewell tries to clinch up.
Pokousha steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Ewell. That one must have hurt.
Steve Ewell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pokousha looks winded!
Ewell stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ewell wants it to stay on the feet.
Steve Ewell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hedrig Pokousha.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Pokousha misses with a left hand

and Ewell decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pokousha's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pokousha throws a strike but Ewell rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Steve Ewell has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Pokousha goes for a double leg but Ewell avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Ewell continues to drive forward.
