Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sal Maloney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cody Williamson!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williamson avoids the body shot from Maloney.
Williamson shoots in looking for a takedown. Maloney tries to sprawl out of it but Williamson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maloney manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Williamson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Maloney connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Williamson scrambles back to his feet.

Williamson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Williamson wants to stand but Maloney has his arm trapped.
Maloney is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Williamson is controlling him well.
Maloney knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Williamson on the ground.

Williamson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Williamson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Williamson shoots in and drives through. Maloney sprawls well.

Maloney lands a left and a right that send Williamson crashing to the mat, dazed. Maloney thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Cody Williamson has been cut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Williamson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Maloney but Maloney pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Sal Maloney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cody Williamson.

Maloney ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Williamson moves away.

Maloney lands with a hook. Williamson tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Maloney connects with a right hand. Williamson shakes it off.
Cody Williamson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Williamson takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Maloney throws a right and a left that Williamson avoids nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fight stays on the outside here - Williamson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Williamson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Maloney is trying to defend but Williamson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Maloney is not content to let Williamson control the position.

Cody Williamson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Maloney throws a one two combo.

Williamson throws a left and a right that both miss

and Maloney counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Williamson tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Williamson is trying to drag Maloney to the mat but Maloney just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Maloney prevents a takedown attempt there.
Williamson is breathing heavily.

Maloney lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Williamson backwards.
Maloney has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Maloney throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Maloney lands a shoulder strike.

Maloney wants to break the clinch but can't.

Maloney breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Williamson shoots in looking for a takedown. Maloney tries to sprawl out of it but Williamson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maloney manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sal Maloney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cody Williamson.
Maloney connects with the punch.

Maloney feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Williamson sprawling to the canvas! Williamson rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Maloney finish him?!


Williamson is rocked!

Maloney connects with a nice looking jab.
Williamson is still on wobbly legs! Can Maloney finish him?
Some bone on bone action there as Maloney checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Williamson seems to have recovered his senses.
Sal Maloney is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Maloney catches Williamson with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Williamson forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!
