PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ripp Arrm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Bailey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ripp Arrm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bob Bailey!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bailey looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Bailey dives in and scores a takedown into Arrm's guard.
Bailey slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Arrm working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bailey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bailey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bailey slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Arrm throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Bailey is stalling here. Arrm is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Bailey seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Arrm has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Arrm creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Bailey sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Bailey tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Arrm wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Arrm wants to control but Bailey is keeping him busy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bailey is staying active underneath Arrm, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Arrm is trying to control. Bailey wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Bailey is looking to improve his position.
Bailey is refusing to be controlled, as Arrm sits in half guard.
Arrm passes the guard and advances to mount!
Arrm lands a couple of good shots and Bailey has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

You can see the frustration on Bailey's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Arrm has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Bailey has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
I really don't envy Bailey right now.
Bailey looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Bailey surviving as best he can, preventing damage.
Bailey is trying to break free.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Arrm's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Arrm is trying to stick to Bailey's back but Bailey is turning into Arrm. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Arrm's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Bailey.

Arrm clinches up with Bailey and pushes him back against the cage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bailey shoots in looking for a takedown but Arrm manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bailey's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bailey scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Arrm to see if he's OK.
Arrm is not content to let Bailey control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fight stays on the outside here - Arrm looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bailey shoots for a double leg takedown but Arrm sprawls well. He's pushed Bailey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Bailey dives in and grabs Arrm's left leg, looking for a takedown. Arrm pushes down on Bailey's head and hops out.

Bailey fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Arrm sprawls well initially but Bailey persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Arrm is positioning himself well to prevent Bailey advancing to mount.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bailey lands a nice short elbow.
