Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Doctor Baldacchino! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Raul Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez tries to clinch but Baldacchino is having none of it. Sanchez lands a nice looking body shot.
Sanchez gets caught flat footed, as Baldacchino shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Sanchez keeping moving, preventing Baldacchino from controlling successfully. Sanchez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Baldacchino postures up.
Baldacchino slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Sanchez is trying to control the position but Baldacchino postures up. Sanchez looking for a sweep. Not yet Sanchez, not yet. Baldacchino stays in close to Sanchez's body and controls the position. Baldacchino passes into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Baldacchino is looking for a kimura but Sanchez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Baldacchino to get the leverage. Sanchez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Baldacchino. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Baldacchino is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sanchez is just riding it out for now. Baldacchino eventually gives up the hold. Sanchez is looking to escape. Baldacchino is trying to work for a kimura but Sanchez is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Sanchez is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Baldacchino trying to control the action but Sanchez is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Baldacchino prevents Sanchez from improving his position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Sanchez throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Baldacchino. Sanchez misses with an attempted mid kick.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Baldacchino drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez tries to bench press Baldacchino off him but Baldacchino keeps the position. Baldacchino advances to full mount. Sanchez really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Baldacchino takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Sanchez has given up his back here.
Baldacchino is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Baldacchino is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Baldacchino not allowing Sanchez to control his hands. Sanchez is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Baldacchino is staying active. Baldacchino is cranking Sanchez's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Sanchez! He's tightened the choke and Sanchez is tapping out!
